Richard K. Ingraham Legacy Society
One of the responses frequently received from potential donors who are approached for the first time by a not-for-profit organization is, “Well, you never asked me before.” It is a common fault of these organizations when they assume that prospects know that the need is there. This has been true of the American Clock & Watch Museum in the past. We have assumed that our members and supporters know that we have a great need to increase our endowment which at present provides over one-third of the annual operating budget.
Because they recognized this challenge, the Board of Directors formed the Richard K. Ingraham Legacy Society in the summer of 2000 to ensure the financial future of the American Clock & Watch Museum. Mr. Ingraham created a Charitable Remainder Unitrust to benefit the museum. Since that time twenty-eight members have been added to the roster of those who have indicated that they have made provisions for the museum in their estate plans or have made a current gift to the museum’s endowment fund.
The American Clock & Watch Museum is now asking you to consider joining this group. Please reflect on why the museum is of value to you personally and why you would like it to continue to serve others like you in the future. The goal is to increase the endowment to $4 million over time through additional gifts and appreciation of the holdings in the fund. Any gift, large or small, will help us reach that goal.
Persons interested in helping to insure the long-term health of the museum are invited to contact the museum office or Art Shahverdian, Chairman of the Development Committee.
As noted below, some members have chosen to make a current contribution of $1,000 or more to the Endowment Fund and have been added to the list. The asterisk (*) denotes that bequests or gifts have been received.
